Project Scope:
Receive, hold in GTI’s outdoor storage facility, deliver to site; and rig to the basement. Remove old generator and transport away from site.
GTI was called on to place two (2) 2MW emergency generators, weighing 20-tons each, in the basement of this office building and remove a 17-ton marine engine block from an older backup system. After receiving and storing the new units in our secure, asphalted storage yard, we transported the machines to site. Using four (4) of our 10-ton hydraulic gantry legs on runway track, we designed and built a steel frame to lift, lower, and raise the pieces from a hatchway located through the building’s plaza level. A 150-ton capacity mobile crane was used to place the new units inside the property lines.
